The Best desserts in Downtown Greenville.

It’s a tough job but we prepared ourselves and went out to try all (OK, A lot!) of the great desserts available in downtown Greenville.  If your sweet tooth is ready for some culinary adventures then try one (or more!) of these delicious desserts.  While we have listed our top ten favorites, we are sure we missed a few.  So let us know if your favorite needs to be added to the list.

In no particular order, because how could we choose a favorite?!?

1. Soby’s New South Cuisine is famous for (among other things!) their White Chocolate Banana Cream Pie.
2. Greektown Grille has a Baklava Sundae that I have to have after every visit.
3. Brick Street Café is practically synonymous with delicious cakes, and while they are all fabulous it’s the Sweet Potato Cake that has people raving.
4. Coffee Underground has plenty of sweet treats to choose from including the Turtle Cheesecake.
5. Carmella’s Dessert & Bar made it hard for us to pick a favorite! The cannoli cake ended up the winner with an honorable mention to the Gluten Free Chocolate tart that was sinfully rich!
6. Sassafras Southern Bistro has warm beignets with caramelized peaches that will be a tasty end to your evening.
7. Larkin’s Makes it easy to share with a dessert trio that includes crème brulee, chocolate fudge torte, and cookies & cream cheesecake.
8. Coral did make it hard for me to not pick a favorite. Their Sticky Toffee Pudding is amazing!
9. Better Than Sex focuses on the sweet and sultry including an Oreo bread pudding dubbed the Double Stuff.
10. Tupelo Honey represents the southern specialty of Banana Pudding.

If trying these one by one is just not enough, you can join Greenville Foodie Tours Saturday Afternoon Just Desserts Tour.  Over a 2 hour tour, visit three(!) incredible downtown Greenville restaurants to sample their famous hand crafted dessert creations, enjoy socializing with other foodies, and they will even add in a little Greenville history along the way!

Of course, when you are talking about sweets, we think our famous chocolate chip cookies are awesome and everyone who stays with us gets cookies.  Also, our homemade Reese’s Chocolate Cake or Strawberry Champagne Cake are available in one of our Romantic Packages and they are delicious (We get cupcakes to test when Randi makes them!).

March 1-3

March 1 – First Friday Gallery Crawl allows you to see 18 different artists of various mediums while viewing 300+ pieces and enjoying refreshments at the Artists Guild Gallery or visit the Greenville Center for Creative Arts to view local and national artists in one of their many studios.

March 1 –  Bemi’s in Greer –  International Ballet Passport to Dance benefit gala will be held with local food and drinks as well as performances by the International Ballet dancers.  Begins at 6:30PM

March 2 – Events at Judson Mill,  Bubbly Side Up A Greenville Brunch Festival is your chance to try all things sweet, savory, and spiked in this brunch experience.

March 2-3 – The Gunter Theatre at The Peace Center – The Greenville Symphony presents: Everything Old is New Again, featuring guest conductor Gary Robinson, collaborating here with his daughter and celebrated keyboardist Caroline Robinson.  This is an unforgettable program for them and for all who will be in the room to share it. The program includes the following:

Christoph Wilibald Gluck: Overtura from Orfeo ed Euridice

Philip Glass: Concerto for Harpsichord and Orchestra

Ottorino Respighi: Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No. 3

Johann Sebastian Bach: Orchestral Suite No. 3

The show on Saturday evening begins at 7:30PM, and on Sunday afternoon at 3:00PM

March 1 – 3 – The Greenville Theatre – Into The Woods   The modern-day classic brings together everyone’s favorite storybook characters with a twist as they embark on unexpected journeys Into The Woods. With a Tony Award-winning score by the late Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, this show explores what happens after your fairytale wishes come true. Join Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Jack and Beanstalk as they go beyond “ever after” to find out what happens next on their journey.  Showtimes are as follows: Thursday 7:30PM, Friday and Saturday at 8:00PM, and Sunday at 3:00PM

March 4 – 10

March 6-10 – Bon Secours Wellness Arena –  The SEC Women’s Tournament returns to Greenville for the 7^th year.  Come join the throngs of fans cheering on your favorite team (or at least whoever is playing your rival!).

March 9 – The Peace Center –  Godsmack with their Vibez Tour. The VIBEZ tour is an acoustic/electric performance filled with untold stories from GODSMACK and will be accompanied by special guest Bastian da Cruz. Show starts at 8:00PM

March 9 – The Comedy Zone – DL Hughley  One of the most popular and highly recognized standup comedians on the road today has also made quite an impression in the television, film and radio arenas, and is headed to Greenville.  Show begins at 6:00PM.

March 10 – Greer Brunch Market  Their monthly brunch market features 40 venders and rotating food trucks and entertainment. From 11:00 – 2:00 PM

March 12 – Peace Concert Hall – Joe Bonamassa

Backed by a stellar band of legendary musicians, the set list for this show will feature new songs alongside career-spanning favorites.  Joe Bonamassa is one of today’s top live performers. His enthusiastic shows are one of the biggest parts of his career and a favorite for music lovers worldwide. Hailed internationally as one of the greatest guitar players of his generation and cited by Guitar World Magazine as “the world’s biggest blues guitarist,” Bonamassa has almost single-handedly redefined the blues-rock genre and brought it into the mainstream. The show begins at 7:30PM

March 13 – Greenville Convention Center – CeCe Winans The Goodness Tour  Winans will showcase tracks from her album Believe For It, including the chart-toppers “Goodness of God,” “Never Lost” and “Believe For It,” and will also debut brand new songs from her forthcoming album More Than This, featuring “Holy Forever,” “That’s My King” and more. The event will be held in the Ballroom, parking will be located off Exposition Drive.  The show begins at 7:00PM.

March 13 – Peace Concert Hall – Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson Renowned astrophysicist, Neil deGrasse Tyson will speak about The Cosmic Perspective, beginning at 7:30PM.

March 14 – Bon Secours Wellness Arena –  ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd are coming to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville during “The Sharp Dressed Simple Man Tour.” The show begins at 7:30PM

March 14 –  NOMA Square welcomes back Downtown Alive each Thursday (March 14 through August 29th), . This free admission street party benefits the Metropolitan Arts Council,  and features local bands, all your favorite food trucks, and beer/wine service. 5:30 – 8:30PM

March 14 – March 17 –  Centre Stage Greenville presents Rockin’ Boots: Country Hits Through The Ages  Centre Stage’s annual hit rock show has gone country! Put on your dancin’ boots and join us for an unforgettable evening of the top Country hits of the century.  Shows Thursday – Saturday at 8:00, Sunday at 3:00

March 15 – NOMA Square –   Main Street Friday  Live music and dancing, but if you want a seat a few are available.  (Don’t worry, our guests can borrow one of ours) 5:30 – 9:30PM

March 16 – 17 – Peace Concert Hall – The Greenville Symphony presents Yanive Attar and Hector Del Curto: The French Connection.  The program will include the following:

Astor Piazzolla: Concerto for bandoneón

Modest Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition, and will begin at 7:30PM on Saturday, and at 3:00PM on Sunday.

March 16 – Downtown Greenville – Greenville St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival – Join the Irish of the Upstate as we march straight up Main Street in Downtown Greenville from the West End, ending at NOMA Square for our St. Patrick’s Festival!  Parade begins at 10:00 AM, and the festival runs until 8:00 PM.

March 19 – 24 – Peace Concert Hall – The Peace Center’s Broadway Season proudly brings you TINA – The Tina Turner Musical   An uplifting comeback story like no other, TINA – THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL is the inspiring journey of a woman who broke barriers and became the Queen of Rock n’ Roll. Set to the pulse-pounding soundtrack of her most beloved hits, this electrifying sensation will send you soaring to the rafters.  Shows Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 7:30PM, Friday at 8:00PM, Saturday at 2:00PM and 8:00PM, and Sunday at 1:00PM and 6:30PM

March 21 – 24 – The Bon Secours Wellness Arena – Cirque du Soliel: Corteo   Corteo, the most enchanting arena production from Cirque du Soleil is headed to Greenville for 5 incredible performances. Corteo, which means cortege in Italian, is a joyous procession, a festive parade imagined by a clown. The show brings together the passion of the actor with the grace and power of the acrobat to plunge the audience into a theatrical world of fun, comedy and spontaneity situated in a mysterious space between heaven and earth. Showtimes are as follows:  Thursday and Friday night at 7:30PM, Saturday at 3:00 and 7:00PM, and Sunday at 1:00PM

March 22-24 – The South Carolina Children’s Theatre – Reedy Reels Film Festival  this 3 day annual event is back with a slew of independent films based in the upstate or made by film students of various ages and backgrounds. Q & A sessions after each film with the film maker.

March 24 – Gunter Theatre at The Peace Center – The Chipper Experience: Where Comedy and Magic Collide  Two-time “Comedy Magician of the Year,” Chipper Lowell, continues to be one of the top favorites among theater-goers, young and old! His original blend of side-splitting comedy, highly original magic, mentalism, hilarious audience interaction, and more, has been entertaining audiences for the last 25+ years, and tonight, Greenville gets a chance, beginning at 7:30PM

March 26 – Peace Concert Hall – Greenville Welcomes Garrison Keillor celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Prairie Home Companion   Almost 50 years ago — on July 6, 1974 — Garrison Keillor hosted the first broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion, and the perennially popular weekly radio show remained on the air until July of 2016, with its music, comedy sketches, and accounts of life in tiny Lake Wobegon (where the women are strong, the men are good-looking, and the children are all above average). Since the show ended, the author and humorist has continued to take the stage at venues nationwide — much to the delight of legions of fans.These days, his in-person humor-filled shows are a treat for folks young and not-so-young.  Joining Keillor are charming singer-actor Christine DiGiallonardo, dazzling vocalist Heather Masse, the ever-popular Royal Academy of Actors (Tim Russell, Sue Scott, and sound-effects wizard Fred Newman), music director/keyboardist Richard Dworsky, and others to be announced.  The show begins at 7:30PM

March 27 – Peace  Concert Hall – Pat Metheny Solo:  Dream Box Tour  Greenville welcomes the Grammy award winning guitarist and composer, who is launching a solo tour which will feature personal and fan favorites from his nearly 50 year career. The show begins at 7:30 PM

March 29 – March 31 – The Warehouse Theatre – Trouble In Mind  Set during rehearsals for a major Broadway production, Trouble In Mind illuminates the inner life of a Black actress struggling with her career.  South Carolina playwright Alice Childress’s 1955 play – which finally premiered on Broadway in 2021 and was nominated for best revival of a play, is a funny, moving, and heartbreaking look at racism, identity, and ego in the high-stakes world of New York theatre. Shows on Friday and Saturday nights begin at 8:00, and on Sunday at 3:00 PM

March 30 – Peace Center Concert Hall – Joanne Shaw Taylor  Emerging as one of the most coveted guitarists in the rock domain, Taylor has played with greats such as Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Jimmy Cliff, Joe Bonamassa, Stevie Wonder, and Annie Lennox.  Her solo show here in Greenville begins at 7:30 PM

March 30 – Bon Secours Wellness Arena – Katt Williams, Dark Matter Tour  Comedy legend and Emmy Award-winning actor Katt Williams announces is coming to Greenville.  With a career spanning 20 years, he promises a night of unparalleled comedy that breaks through boundaries and challenges the status quo.  The show begins at 8:00 PM
